In February, Debbie Seabrook, herbalist and Master Naturalist, hosted a conversation on "Yaupon Teas and Other Free Beverages." Debbie guided us through the fascinating and ancient history of Yaupon tea, including the impact of colonization and the taxonomic implications. Following a discussion on ethical foraging, Debbie taught us how to process Yaupon for tea.
We had two Think & Drink sessions in March. On March 18th, Cole Ruch from SCDNR joined us to review the magic of oysters, the critical space they occupy in our ecology, a history of oysters here in the Lowcountry, and how the SCORE program is working to rebuild our living shorelines. Cole's passion really comes through in this excellent presentation.
