Ecco Tour to Deveaux Bank for Wimbrel Migration...
Each year, nearly 20,000 Wimbrel stop at Deveaux Bank here in South Carolina to rest and eat their favorite food - fiddler crabs - to get ready for the 2nd leg of their epic migration to the Artic.
That number of Wimbrel is almost half of the Eastern population of Wimbrel!
Deveaux Bank is a spit of high ground, and is a haven for the Wimbrel...and it is now a protected place, thanks to SC lawmakers who voted to close the island to visitors during the important migration months of May to late June/early July.
