November Walk & Talk

November Walk & Talk

Charlotte Hope, retired SCDNR and eagle observer for decades, shared her extensive knowledge about the Bald Eagle with CMNA in November.

On Wednesday, November 16, 2022 she presented at our Think & Drink. We received permission to record and share this on our website, under the “Resources” tab, so you can view this fantastic information.

On Saturday, November 19, we met at Caw Caw Interpretive Center for our Walk & Talk, and meandered out to the dikes to view the Eagle nest.

The resident pair eventually made their appearance! It was a great day to share with our tribe! I was amazed at the specific information that Charlotte shared. For example, after adding new sticks to the nest, which are broken from the trees and never picked up off the ground; the eagles add a fresh pine bough with needles to the nest. This deters insects and microbial growth just before laying her eggs. Who knew?!?
